The health struggle of Wendy Williams has become worse. Her guardian claims that the former talk show presenter is now “permanently incapacitated” as a result of her dementia diagnosis.
Her guardian affirms that Williams “has been afflicted by early-onset dementia and, as a result, has become cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated” in new court records that Deadline was able to acquire and make public.
One year after being put under legal guardianship, Williams was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and primary aggressive aphasia in May 2023. Her money and health are under the court-ordered care.
The Where Is Wendy Williams? documentary and Williams’ guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, are at issue in the court petition dated November 12.
Morrissey sued to prevent the Lifetime show, which described her health issues and alcoholism after leaving The Wendy Williams Show, from airing.

The complaint alleges that by producing and releasing a documentary at a time when Williams was very fragile and obviously unable to give his permission to be recorded,
Lifetime and the documentary’s executive producer, Mark Ford, “cruelly took advantage of Williams’ cognitive and physical decline.”
The documentary’s makers “intentionally manipulated and goaded” Morrissey “to trigger strong emotional reactions and acquire embarrassing footage,” according to her lawyers.
Before the talk show host ever had a guardian, Lifetime says it obtained “consent, input, and participation” to produce the documentary.
Due to a physical ailment, Wendy Williams’ program ended after 12 years in 2022. She was replaced with Sherri Shepherd, who now shoots Sherri at the same studio.
