It’s Diana in double dosage. Last night in London, Ladies Eliza and Amelia Spencer, nieces of the late Princess of Wales, walked the red carpet at the Fashion Awards 2024.
Their identical black gowns and an abundance of jewels evoked their aunt’s most famous ensemble.
Amelia, the identical twin, wore a plunging Pamella Roland dress with delicate shimmer around the neckline.
While Eliza, 32, opted for an off-the-shoulder Gaurav Gupta design with elaborate draping accents around the neckline.
Wearing Jennifer Chamandi shoes and diamond choker necklaces, rings, and bracelets by Sartoro Genève, both had their blond hair pulled back into neat buns to highlight the gems.
Naturally, the twinning moment will be immediately compared to Princess Diana’s famous vengeance dress by royal admirers.
On the night that King Charles III confessed to having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles in 1994, the princess wore a lean, off-the-shoulder LBD by Christina Stambolian with a pearl necklace.
Notably, Diana further defied the system she had been living under by doubling down on her scorned woman image with vivid red nail lacquer.
In particular, Amelia has a history of honoring her ancestry, as seen by her wedding day decision to have Atelier Versace create her unique long-sleeved gown.
At the time of her 2023 wedding, she said, “I think [my aunt] would be very proud to see me on my wedding day.”
“There is a very special connection that we have because I know the Versace family also adores Diana,” she said.
Siân Gabari fashioned the Spencer pair, as well as Lady Kitty Spencer, the oldest sister, who wore a gold A-line ballgown designed by Pamella Rolland to the same occasion.
Although Diana’s bold appearance was obviously intended to make a statement, her nieces were actually among the celebrities on Monday night’s carpet who wore more traditional attire.
Rita Ora completely changed for the evening with her bleached brows, pixie cut, and oversized Primark pantsuit, while Rihanna attracted attention in a classic Christian Lacroix blue fur ensemble.
