Bob Bryar, the drummer for My Chemical Romance, was discovered dead at home at the age of 44.

Two days before Thanksgiving, Bob Bryar, the 44-year-old drummer for My Chemical Romance, was discovered dead at his Tennessee home.

According to TMZ, his cause of death has not yet been made public, and it is unclear who discovered him.

His corpse was “badly decomposed” when it was found, according to the station, and Animal Control arrived at the residence to remove his two dogs.

Since all of his “weapons and music equipment in the home were left untouched,” authorities do not suspect “foul play.”

The day Bryar tweeted his last tweets, one of which simply said ‘TULSI,’ perhaps in reference to former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, he was last seen alive on November 4.

Bryar served as My Chemical Romance’s longest-serving and last official drummer from 2004 to 2010, and his exit was surrounded by allegations of conflict with his bandmates, Ray Toro, Mikey Way, Gerard Way, and Frank Iero.

According to MTV, many sources verified that there had been a falling out, even though the band members did not elaborate on the details.

After the band’s second album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (2004), was released, Bryar took over as drummer from Matt Pelissier.

Up until his departure, he continued to play and record songs with the group on all of their ensuing albums.

Guitarist Iero announced Bryar’s departure from the group on March 3, 2010. Bob Bryar and My Chemical Romance split up as of four weeks ago.

We all had to make this difficult choice, and it was not made lightly. In a statement posted on their official website.

He stated, “We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and expect you all to do the same.” His most recent collaboration with the group was on Conventional Weapons, their 2013 album.

He became a real estate agent and an avid supporter of several canine rescues and sanctuaries when he retired from music in 2014.

According to Rolling Stone, Bryar raised money for a Tennessee animal shelter in 2021 by auctioning off the drum equipment.

He last used with the band, both on tour and when they were recording their classic 2006 album The Black Parade.

This drum set is my final one and is prepared for a new home. According to the publication, he added in the listing.

“I used this kit when [the band] opened the MTV VMAs in 2005, the following tour, and for some of the [Black Parade] record.”

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Bryar started playing the drums at an early age. He participated in jazz and marching bands while in school before attending the University of Florida to pursue a degree in sound engineering.

Bryar said in a 2015 tweet that he “became the most depressed, angry, suicidal person ever” after getting “kicked out of MyChem.”

“Now, I am on so many pills that I feel a bit better, although, it still (b)others me every day,” he added in a subsequent, since-deleted tweet.

I was informed recently that I would not be returning. In 2025, My Chemical Romance was supposed to go on tour, but Bryar was not expected to rejoin the group.

Lead singer Gerard Way, lead guitarist Ray Toro, rhythm guitarist Frank Iero, and bassist Mikey Way make up My Chemical Romance’s current lineup.
