Police search for missing 7-year-old boy: major update

Early on Sunday morning, objects that were probably belonged to a seven-year-old who had gone missing were discovered in the freezing waters of a Wisconsin river.

Two Rivers police verified the finding as they continue their hunt for Jacob Baer. Around 4:30 p.m. the previous day, the youngster disappeared from a park in Two Rivers that was located very adjacent to the river.

In addition, the discovery in the West Twin River was made a few hours after the Wisconsin National Guard and Coast Guard Ice Search and Rescue Team agents started assisting with the search.

The latter conducted airborne searches over a designated section of the river close to Veterans Park using a helicopter at 600-foot height.

Police would not confirm that the youngster had fallen within, but they did advise the public to keep a watch on this section of the river.

Furthermore, it was not made clear what items had been removed from the river, but investigators were reportedly still searching the region, which is now “an area of interest,” for any clues on Sunday.

Three-year-old Elijah Vue vanished from Two Rivers in February and was discovered in a shallow grave in September, three miles from the residence of the man who is now facing charges related to his murder.

Around 3:40 a.m., the Two Rivers Police Department posted a message on Facebook that said, “Law enforcement found several items believed to belong to Jacob in the water of the West Twin River last night.”

During their search early this morning, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) discovered an area of interest in the water close to these objects.

More resources are being organized for activities later this morning, along with a search of this region of interest.

As more details become available, we’ll keep you informed. I appreciate your patience. Approximately two hours before, police reported that DNR agents had arrived on the site, joining the state national guard and Coast Guard that had previously been sent.

According to the statement, local emergency services and law enforcement were still combing the river at that time.

As temperatures approached 20 degrees Fahrenheit, additional accounts indicated that the Coast Guard and National Guard had arrived on the area around one hour earlier.

The Wisconsin National was “providing aerial searching with a helicopter,” according to an update released shortly after midnight. This claim was supported by data displaying the aircraft’s flight route.

Officers in Two Rivers said that despite the presence of several volunteer and municipal fire departments as well as other law enforcement agencies, the youngster was still not located over twenty-four hours later.

Meanwhile, Monday morning marks the start of the town’s cold season, which coincides with the waterway search.

Parts of the river under search are known to freeze over at this time; on the night the youngster vanished, some ice was already visible.

What objects were recovered from the river and why police think they belong to the missing youngster are still unknown.

Additionally, the circumstances surrounding his abduction remain relatively unclear; police have only said that the 3-foot-5 child was last seen wearing.

A black jacket with green accents on the hood and a black and gray hooded sweatshirt. He is said to have blonde, shaggy hair and blue eyes.
