At an Ohio primary school, the Satanic Temple will provide an elective religious education course. The curriculum, known as Hellions Academy of Independent Learning, or HAIL.
Will be available to students in the Marysville School District at Edgewood Elementary School. June Everett, the program director for HAIL, told WSYX-TV.
That the curriculum would enable children to learn about ideas like justice, empathy, and compassion without being forced to follow any one religion.
Everett said, “When they hear it, it’s initially shocking, oh, the Satanic Temple.” “Evil and terrible thoughts come to mind immediately.
We don’t worship the devil. We are satanic non-theists. The course will be provided as a component of the Religious Instruction curriculum during Release Time.
Parents called on the Satanic Temple to provide an alternative that adheres to satanic ideals and beliefs because students were permitted to be removed from school to attend Christian events.
Another mom and community leader Betty Elswick dubbed the Satanists. “We wanted to make sure that we had a program that was teaching compassion and empathy and also inclusion,” Elswick said to WSYX.
“Several parents had expressed concerns about their kids coming home and being bullied or made fun of and teased for not participating in the other programs in the area.”
Only four pupils have enrolled in the demonic training, but according to Elswick, others have shown interest.
Our only concern is that there be one kid to attend and one family that want to send their child. “The numbers are not why we are here,” she said.
The diabolical curriculum will also teach youngsters self-directed learning, compassion, critical thinking, and problem-solving techniques.
According to WSYX, it contacted Marysville Schools Superintendent Diane Allen on the program but did not get a response.
The Satanic Temple said in October that it was going to start offering abortions in Virginia in addition to New Mexico.
