The O’Neal family just received heartbreaking news, and they are undoubtedly in our prayers and thoughts at this time.
NBA great Shaquille O’Neal and his ex-wife, Shaunie o’Neal, who created Basketball Wives, are now very worried about their 18-year-old son, Shareef. Shareef was one of the most sought-after high school basketball players in his final year, in case you hadn’t heard.
This year, there was a lot of excitement about his impending collegiate basketball career with UCLA. Regretfully, the 18-year-old just courageously revealed that he needs significant heart surgery after UCLA’s medical team discovered a critical cardiac condition.
Speaking to former Los Angeles Lakers great Shaquille O’Neal and his son Shareef O’Neal at a Golden State Warriors vs.
Los Angeles Lakers basketball game where Lakers legend Kobe Bryant’s jersey was retired at Staples Center on December 18, 2017,
In Los Angeles, California, is Peter Guber, co-executive chairman of the Golden State Warriors and chairman and CEO of Mandalay Entertainment.
In a recent interview with TMZ, he revealed his future ambitions and thanked the crew for “saving his life.” He will be a “normal student” throughout his whole freshman season, which he must miss:
O’Neal Shareef, During a regular check-up the other day, we discovered a medical condition with my heart.
I am grateful that the UCLA medical team discovered it early, but as a result, I will be a medical red shirt and not play this season.
He went on: “I’ll take some time off, concentrate on my studies, take care of my health, and just watch [the team] to be the best player I [can] be next year.”
Shareef wants people to know that his career won’t be hampered by having heart surgery, even if he acknowledges that he will need to “be out for a couple of months”:
Many individuals want to know whether this is the end of their career. Absolutely not; I’ll be back in no time; it’s only a little setback.
I will be going to my courses and acting like a regular student while I’m in recovery. He took a moment to express his gratitude to his followers and to candidly express how depressed he is right now by this news, but also how hopeful he is about the future:
“I want to express my gratitude to UCLA, my family, my teammates, and everyone else who has helped me make this choice.
And I simply want to let all the students know that there won’t always be a clear route to success. You must experience some setbacks and setbacks.
“It won’t always be simple. I’m feeling a bit depressed since I feel like I was playing basketball at my best just before my freshman year, right after my high school won a state title.
I felt like I was striving to improve and was at the top of my game when this occurred. I’m simply doing my hardest to prioritize my health at the moment.
Although Shareef and his family must be going through a difficult time, we applaud that little brother for maintaining his composure.
I’m sending him good vibes and am looking forward to seeing him reach new heights after he recovers from his heart surgery.
