How the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul bout transpired in contrast to the widely circulated “leaked script”

One of the most anticipated bouts in boxing history took place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, last night.

Even if the main event didn’t live up to the expectations, it was still a great night in the boxing world, with 72,000 people crammed into the stadium and an estimated 120 million watching on Netflix (or at least attempting to).

Yes, even though Tyson is 58 years old and deserves our admiration for making his comeback to the ring for the first time in 19 years, the battle was at times plodding, predictable, lethargic, and just plain dull.

The judges decided unanimously that Paul was the winner. It’s also reasonable to say that the battle went as many of us had anticipated. It seemed like Father Time overtook Paul, even though we wanted to see.

Tyson fight with the intensity he showed in the 1990s and the quickness and strength that made him the youngest world champion in history.

Indeed, the fight was regrettably foreseeable. However, given that a purported “leaked script” of the fight surfaced on social media before. The bell rang, some people could have anticipated a “predictable” bout for a different reason.

With the remark, “Ain’t no way bro,” the strange one-page “script” was posted on X. The script was leaked! #Paul vs. Tyson Jake Paul is going to defeat Mike Tyson.

Naturally, it didn’t take long for the round-by-round “script” to become viral and be published by news sources, since many people think.

That the emergence of YouTubers and other influencers in the sport is the reason why more and more professional boxing matches are being held.

However, what was the difference between the “script” that went viral and what really happened that night? Like this, really.

Round 1 Script: “As soon as the opening bell sounds, Tyson, displaying glimmers of his former self, charges forward in his trademark bob-and-weave fashion.

Paul keeps his distance and moves carefully around the ring. Tyson throws a few blows, but Paul’s youthfulness is evident in his better movement.

Paul quickly makes contact with a one-two combo before stepping back. Tyson’s punches seem to be a little slower than they were in his best days, and his timing seems a little off.

In reality, Mike Tyson pushed Jake Paul against the ropes early in the round after coming out with a violent stance.

Paul slipped away and landed a big overhand right, pushing Tyson back despite Tyson’s pressure. Because of his youth, Paul seemed more at ease than the other, controlling the tempo and making good use of his jab. Paul 10-9 is the verdict. Tyson

Script for Round 2: “Tyson comes to life and more successfully cuts off the ring. The audience lets out a collective scream as he delivers a devastating left hook to Paul’s torso.

Paul weathers the storm by peppering Tyson with long punches while taking advantage of his reach.

Tyson’s breathing gets labored as the younger fighter hops on his toes, demonstrating his endurance.

What really transpired: halfway through the round, Tyson tried a fast combination and successfully landed a right hook to the body.

But Paul’s quickness was clear as he controlled the fight and avoided Tyson’s efforts to choke him. Tyson was applauded by the fans, but Paul was out of reach due to his quickness. Paul 10-9 Tyson, the verdict (Total: Paul, 20-18)

Round 3 Script: “Paul becomes more self-assured and begins to plant his feet more.” Tyson is briefly stunned as he strikes a crisp right cross.

Paul misses much of the great combination that the former champion reacts with. Paul starts figuring out his jab’s range, which makes the speed disparity more noticeable.

Tyson begins to slow down his renowned head movement. What really happened was that Paul skillfully countered Tyson’s aggressive surge at the bell with a stinging left hook that seemed to scare Tyson.

Tyson became wobbly once again after a following one-two combination, demonstrating Paul’s supremacy in the ring as he warily acknowledged Tyson’s ability to knock him out. Paul 10-9 Tyson (Total: 30-27 Paul) was the verdict.

Round 4 Script: “Tyson is tired, but his punches are still quite powerful. Paul finds his groove and makes more accurate shots.

Above Tyson’s left eye, a gash is opened by a very sharp right hand. In an attempt to get closer, the veteran champion charges forward, but Paul’s technique keeps him just out of reach.

The tide is shifting. What really transpired: Paul seemed to slow down the battle, maybe assessing Tyson and choosing to go the whole distance.

He was in charge of the middle of the ring, setting the pace of the bout, staying out of danger, and producing a consistent barrage of attacks. Conclusion: Paul 10–9 (Total: Paul 40–36)

Script for Round 5: “The last round. Paul starts to move more forcefully after seeing Tyson’s weariness.

He backs Tyson against the ropes with a clean three-punch combo. Paul timed Tyson well with a powerful right hand that caught him square on the chin as he tried to dodge away.

Tyson falls to the canvas as his legs give out. Despite having the heart of a fighter, Tyson is unable to beat the 10 count when the referee starts the count.

“Winner: Jake Paul by KO, Round 5” What really transpired: Tyson seemed to be on the defensive and finding it difficult to make a serious attack.

While Paul was now depending more and more on his jab. Paul maintained his control over the fight’s tempo by making accurate shots without taking many chances.

Paul 10-9 (Overall: 50-45 Paul) is the verdict. Round Six Naturally, the alleged “script” said that Paul would have prevailed by now, but that was not the case.

What really transpired: Tyson barely landed a couple punches in this round, highlighting his declining offensive production.

Perhaps displaying some compassion, Paul kept up enough energy to make the fight interesting without going overboard or putting Tyson in jeopardy. Conclusion: Paul 10–9 (Paul 60–54 overall)

What really happened in Round 7: Tyson began the round with a strong left hand, displaying a momentary comeback.

But his attacking effort was limited to that. In the last twenty seconds, Paul retaliated with a barrage of blows to the head and body, clinching another round for him. Conclusion: Paul 10–9 (Total: Paul 70–63)

What really happened in round eight: Tyson made a last try in the eighth round, throwing more punches than in the previous rounds but not enough to cause Paul any difficulty.

Both competitors slowed as the battle and round came to an end, and Paul acknowledged the bout’s inevitable end by bowing to Tyson.

Tyson offered his glove in return. Conclusion: Paul 10–9 (Paul 80–72 overall). Both guys embraced in the ring after Paul’s victory was announced.

This just serves to highlight how unbelievable everything you see on social media is. Unfortunately, many people are still convinced that yesterday night’s fight was manufactured from beginning to end, even though this script has been shown to be complete bullshit.

Given that Tyson deserves a great deal of respect for even thinking about returning to the ring, particularly against someone who is 31 years his younger, this is quite unfortunate.
