In a recent advertisement with a Gilmore Girls theme, Kirk (Sean Gunn) enters the cafe with a special delivery for Luke (Scott Patterson) after passing a local troubadour in the town square.
Lorelai (Lauren Graham) appears as he is leaving and exclaims, “Please, coffee, coffee!” Luke places a blue Walmart box in front of her and adds, “Coming right up.”
When Luke opens the present, he discovers that Lorelai has been given a Keurig coffee machine. “You shouldn’t have, Luke,” says Lorelai. “I had to— you’re drinking me out of business,” he jokes.
Fans are aware that the snow is Lorelai’s favorite, so the two walk outdoors and grin at it. In a voiceover, Lorelai states, “Give the gift that shows you get them with top brands.
They’ll love from Walmart.” According to a press release, the shop reunited Luke and Lorelai for the first time since 2016 “to celebrate love, friendship, and the holidays.”
When Gilmore Girls first aired on The WB (and then The CW) for seven seasons from 2000 to 2007, fans witnessed the pair grow in love. In the 2016 Netflix revival series Gilmore Girls:
A Year in the Life, Luke and Lorelai ultimately tied the knot. (In the new advertisement, fans will spot the wedding ring on his left hand.)
Other Easter eggs include the local troubadour playing guitar on the bench and the well-known song “la la” by Sam Phillips.
Additionally, fans may anticipate another commercial for the campaign where Lorelai gives Luke a spare baseball cap in case his trademark one is damaged. Walmart’s Christmas campaign,
Which aims to encourage consumers to “give the gifts that show you get them,” also included advertisements for Love Jones, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Crazy Rich Asians.
Although there haven’t been any new Gilmore Girls episodes since 2016, several of the cast members have said that they would be happy to work together once again in the future.
In a 2021 interview with Us Weekly, Patterson even had some suggestions. The actor said, “[Rory] has the baby,” adding that he is unsure of Rory’s child’s father.
“He just loses it and leaves whether it’s Logan [Matt Czuchry] or someone else. Like Christopher [David Sutcliffe] and Lorelai, history repeats itself.
She then leaves to seek a significant writing opportunity in Europe and leaves the baby in our arms. And when she returns from her pursuit of it, we get to parent the child for a short time.
