In a rare medical admission, Sir Elton John informed his followers that he had “lost his eyesight”.
The renowned singer and his spouse, David Furnish, were enjoying a West End performance of The Devil Wears Prada.
But David escorted the 77-year-old rock star off the stage. It follows Elton’s self-disclosure of an ailment that left him feeling “stuck.”
“I’ve lost my eyesight and cannot see the stage,” he said to the audience at the theater. “As some of you may know, I have had issues and now I have lost my sight,” he said.
Although I was unable to attend the concert, I still found it to be enjoyable. Since I haven’t been able to attend many of the previews, my husband has been my pillar of support.
I find it difficult to see, but I like listening to it, and today it sounded terrific. I appreciate you coming. According to sources who spoke to the Mirror, Sir Elton made sure to remain and greet the show’s cast and staff after the performance.
Elton previously said that his music recording had been put on hold due to an eye ailment that was discovered early this year.
Sir Elton went on: “I simply need to get off my ass because I haven’t done anything in a long time. Unfortunately, I suffered an illness in the south of France in July that caused me to lose my vision in my right eye.
I haven’t been able to see for four months, and my left eye isn’t doing well either. Therefore, there is optimism and hope that all will work out, but it’s.
I can do something like this (an interview), but I’m not sure how I’ll walk into the studio and record it since I can’t visualize a lyric to begin with.”
Sir Elton reported on social media in September that he was “healing” from the virus, but that his recuperation had taken longer than expected.
He disclosed that he was in talks to create a new album with the help of his longtime collaborator, Bernie Taupin, during an appearance on ABC News’ Good Morning America.
The father of two further said that while on vacation in the South of France, he had the virus, which caused him to lose sight.
“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,” the celebrity said on Instagram in September.
Though it’s a very slow process, I’m recuperating, and it will be some time before the affected eye can see again.
“My family and the wonderful group of physicians and nurses have taken such amazing care of me over the last several weeks, and for that I am really thankful.
I am feeling good about the strides I have made in my healing and recuperation so far, and I have been quietly recovering at home throughout the summer. With appreciation and love.”
The artist acknowledges that his lifestyle has radically altered since his health crisis and that he now pays close attention to what he eats.
He stated, “I can have an apple, I can eat a bit of melon,” revealing that it had been a “long time” since he had indulged in a sweet delicacy.
It doesn’t raise your blood sugar levels as long as you’re reasonable about it. However, I can’t eat any ice cream, therefore my cravings are for chocolate and ice cream.”
He went on to say, “If I had a death row meal, it would contain nothing but sweets, because I can’t eat them now,” on Lady Ruth Rogers’ Ruthie’s Table 4 podcast.
I would thus have apple pie, rhubarb crumble, donuts, and ice cream. Since receiving a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis in early 2000, Elton has had a lot of health problems.
